Choose vegetarianism: Once, not too long ago, except for people living in north zones, vegetarianism was more common. Or at least, foods coming from animals were much more restricted. And even peoples who were not vegetarian ate a lot more plant products than lately.

But in the past 50 years, the industrial revolution and the intensive livestock farming have changed our eating habits. Using new technologies, medication and hormones, producers compete to produce in the cheapest way possible this flesh that is now in most menus. There is no ethics in this system where profitability is the only considered matter. Destruction of a sustainable farming that had been going on for thousands of years, terrible animal suffering, horrible stinking, pollution of the soil, air, water, and plants and animals (including humans), overexploitation of nature and health consequences on human consumers don’t look important at all…

Yet to choose vegetarianism can help the situation.

In the world in which we are living, going to the grocery store is a political act. To eat is to vote! We may feel like we have no choice and no influence on the bad things going on, chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, hormones, un-respected animal (and human and environmental) rights, the species getting extinct, the forests being cut, the fertile soils being transformed into deserts by unintelligent agriculture, pharmaceutical companies getting richer and richer as people get sicker than ever. Yet, we do have a choice, and we do have an influence. Getting healthy, just like the actual state of the world, is more a question of choice than fate. Choosing a vegetarian diet, as well as buying organic foods (much better for health and the environment), local foods from small farms and orchards do help our health, and the world.

In days, we could change the face of the world if everybody who is not satisfied with the actual destructive system decided to stop nourishing it with the things they buy.

Choose Vegetarianism for life!

Life is more precious than everything. The biodiversity that has evolved on earth is just incredible. Compare an acre of Amazonian forest with an acre of industrial park, and you will understand that grey cement and smoke is a non sense, and that trees, plants, insects, the good smell of earth and hummus, small and bigger animals, birds, etc, are a treasure that we can hardly measure.

I choose life over cement, oil and money. I choose vegetarianism: I choose green life, leaves, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, sprouts, cereals, roots, fresh, organic ones, local ones when available, and I am healthy as life, happy as a fish in a bowl, and alive as a plant in the sun!
